It called for rain all day Saturday but by the time I arrived at the Worthington Renaissance Fort Worth Hotel where the girls were getting ready, the sky’s cleared! Wedding day score! To the elevator and up to the eighth floor. When I walked in the girl’s room, they were super cute in their matching robes. This room was perfect for their wedding day preparations. So much room, lots of windows, and what a view! And don’t you just love Mariah’s hair? Those curls made the perfect updo. The makeup and hair artist did an amazing job. The girls looked fantastic! It was time to head to the Church.
When we arrived at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Worth, my team and I headed to the Chapel with Elyse, their coordinator. We found Garrett sitting in the Chapel taking a moment by himself. It was super sweet.
I was excited to be able to do portraits before the ceremony. First was the guys. We headed to the courtyard and the guys were in full jokester mode. I find it so fun when they are relaxed and just having a great time! While I was taking a few portraits of Garrett, the girls discovered a window that they could look out to the courtyard. We made sure to have Garrett’s back to the window and the bride got a sneak peek of her soon to be husband. This was such a sweet moment for the both of them. I was glad that I was able to capture that moment for them.
Now it was time for Mariah to put her beautiful Allure Bridals dress on. It was a perfect fit and she looked just stunning! And I have to say, the more and more I see Alfred Angelo Bridesmaid dresses, the more I love them. Don’t the girls look great?! We had only 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony but we made sure the guest and of course Garrett were tucked away. 🙂 We headed to the courtyard for a few portraits. When all the girls were together, it started to get a little emotional and I’ll admit I had to fight back watery eyes. I love the love friends have for each other.
The ceremony was as wonderful as ever. At one point Mariah offered Garrett her tears tissue and it was so cute that all the guests shared a giggle. Marriage sealed with a kiss and it is official! They are now Mr. and Mrs. Smithhart. Yay!
This wedding party portrait session was, I’m not going to lie, pretty awesome! Everyone was full of joy and you can tell that Mariah and Garrett are on cloud nine! This Church has the most amazing and beautiful columns and I could have spent an hour or two with this beautiful couple but it was time to head to their reception at the Historic 512 just across the parking lot.
Their reception was nothing short of elegant and beauty. The tables were lined with the most gorgeous floral arrangements. And the cake! Those peonies will forever be in my mind. If I could go back in time and have this cake for my wedding I would. Instead of a groom’s cake, there was an ice cream bar! Who doesn’t like cake and ice cream! The bride and groom arrived and immediately had their first dance. I can’t help falling in love with you by Ingrid Michaelson played as Garrett twirled his bride. Garrett shared a sweet dance with his mother and Mariah with her dad, then it was on to toasts. One of my favorite parts of a wedding. 🙂 Dinner and dancing…these guest know how to celebrate! Dancers for sure! Lisa, the DJ, did a great job getting everyone on the dance floor. It is always so crazy to me how fast the day goes. Garrett and Mariah shared a private last dance and exited with all of their friends and family cheering them on on the front steps of the Historic 512. What a perfect end to a perfect night. Now they are off to enjoy Jamaica on their honeymoon!
