Wearing a mask at an engagement session is going to take some getting used to! It’s so strange to not give our couples a hug as soon as we see them or give the bride a hair zhuzh during our sessions! (that means fluff!) But I will say, that I will take what I can get! It felt SO good to be back out doing what I love and being around our wonderful couples again! And if wearing a mask will keep allowing us to do engagement sessions and micro weddings, we’re IN!
Rachel + Joshua met us in downtown Waxahachie for their engagement session on Monday. The sun was shining, they were smiling, and so were we! They are such a genuine and fun loving couple, it is no wonder that they found each other! They are such a great match! I love how Joshua would whisper jokes and things to get her to laugh. Perfect! And I didn’t even have to ask! So sweet!
And am I the only one who when see’s the names “Rachel + Joshua” together, can’t help but say “Jo shu wa” like Rachel from “Friends would say it?” I can’t help it! Rachel and I both agreed that sooo many life things can be related back to “Friends” Haha! You know we are right!
Here are a few of our favs as well as a little more info about them as a couple!
HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We actually met on an online dating app and talked back a forth for about a week before we exchanged phone numbers. After that, we talked on the phone or FaceTimed just about every night, and we went on our first date a month after we met.
WHAT IS YOUR PERFECT DATE NIGHT?
We enjoy a lot of the same things, which is very convenient! Some of our favorites are Six Flags, good burgers, and going to the movies. Our perfect date would be a whole day filled with all of those! A day riding our favorite rides (Texas Giant and Judge Roy Scream being the MOST favorite), followed by Fuddruckers burgers, and then a movie. We always have so much fun!
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
We knew within a few months of dating that each other was “the one”, so a wedding and marriage was a common topic of discussion. He had the ring and had shown it to my five and four year old children (who kept the surprise REALLY well) a few days before he proposed, so they were anxious for him to ask me. We had plans for our one year anniversary, so we were getting ready to leave and waiting for my mom to arrive to keep the kids that evening. As I was trying to make sure things were ready, he called me over to him in the kitchen where the kids were, and said something SUPER sweet (I can’t remember exactly, because I got caught up in the moment when I realized what was happening, but I do remember it was perfect!), and then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes, and my children were ecstatic! It was perfect, because our anniversary celebration turned into our engagement celebration.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR THE WEDDING DAY?
JOSHUA: I’m not excited about being the center of attention for the whole day. However, I am most excited about being married to Rachel and sharing my last name with her.
RACHEL: My first wedding was at a courthouse, and my first marriage was to someone who was abusive and never truly loved me. I am so excited to have a wedding in a church where my daddy gets to walk me down the aisle, and I can’t wait to be married to Joshua, who shows me on a daily basis what true love looks like.
TELL ME ONE INTERESTING OR UNIQUE THING ABOUT EACH OTHER.
Joshua doesn’t like mashed potatoes! But he’s a computer whiz and a really great golfer, so that makes up for it. 😉 Rachel cries at everything, but she also bakes some delicious chocolate chip cookies and homemade bread, so it balances out.
ANY TIPS FOR OTHERS ABOUT HAVING ENGAGEMENT PICTURES TAKEN?
JOSHUA: I just dressed nice (thanks Rachel) and did what I was told. We had a lot of fun!
RACHEL: Just relax and have fun! Cindy and Philip made that part super easy, so we really had a blast. Inside jokes help for when you need a good laugh. 🙂
