Well… today is a big day. My teenage daughter is a teenager no more. My lovely Alyssa turns 20 today! I know what you are all thinking. You don’t look old enough to have a twenty year old and to you, I say thank you. I not only am old enough but I feel about 192. Ok, maybe not that old but you get what I mean.
Alyssa and I have been through so much together. Me being a single mom for 29 years, wow 29 years…until of course, my wonderful husband came along. I would like to say that we were like the Gilmore Girls and were the best of friends and agreed on everything, but this is the real world, right? We have had our ups and downs, and side to sides, and around the worlds, but we loved each other none the less. I have to also mention my amazing family who have always been so involved and supportive in helping raise her. It’s crazy to think that there was a time when she couldn’t sit on her own and would only fall asleep in a swing and now she’s semi on her own, going to school, and starting her future.
I am so proud of her and how far she has come. Anyone who knows us and has grown with us, know just how far she’s climbed. She is so thoughtful and caring and pursues a relationship with God. She is so quirky and isn’t afraid to be herself. She is quick to open the door for someone and quick to serve if someone needs help. She is kind, generous, and genuine. She is perfect just the way she is. Happy Birthday my wonderful daughter, Alyssa!
