AMBER + WILL | Aledo Texas Engagement

When Amber told me that she and Will would like to have their engagement session on Will’s family property, I knew this was going to be epic! They both have spent so much time together there that it really holds close to both of their hearts so of course, it was the one place they wanted to share their engagement story.

When I started to reach closer to Will’s home, I had to take a moment to take in all the beauty that is out by Aledo. It felt like I traveled to a whole other time and place. It is simply beautiful! All the green hills and trees were all perfectly placed to create such an amazing canvas.

I love love love Amber + Will’s story. They have known each other since they were 11! You will read a little further on about their first date and I’m excited to let you know that Amber has shared a photo with me of this! These two are the definition of two peas in a pod! Laughs, kisses, and smiles all around. It is easy to see that they are truly meant for each other!

We toured the property and it is a site to see! All the trees, green fields, and the cati! The sun was our friend but I’ll tell you what the cactuses aren’t! I moved a half an inch too close and… ouch! For the photo I got, it was worth it! But I actually really like cacti! I think they are so interesting and beautiful! Especially when they bloom!

WHERE DID YOU HAVE YOUR FIRST DATE?
It was our freshman year to the high school homecoming game! We developed a strong friendship and started dating even while attending different colleges. I am lucky to be marrying my best friend!

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
Will proposed at his grandmother’s lake house on Possum Kingdom Lake; the place where we (officially) started dating. He led me to the dock, where our family and friends had strung twinkle lights, pictures of us over the years, and roses and candles along the walkway. After proposing we went up to the house where our family and friends were waiting to surprise me! How awesome is he?!

DESCRIBE THE PERFECT DATE NIGHT
Some of my fondest memories are of Will playing the guitar for me around the campfire; I don’t know how you get a more perfect night than that!

TELL ME AN INTERESTING FACT ABOUT EACH OTHER.
We are total suckers for The Office, dessert, belting out Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places,” and have now officially known each other for half of our lives.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR OTHER COUPLES HAVING ENGAGEMENT PICTURES TAKEN?
First of all, hire Cindy as your photographer! She was great at putting us at ease and her photos are beautiful. Secondly, act natural. Some of the best photos that came out of our session were of us goofing around and enjoying each other’s company. Be yourselves, and your pictures will reflect you and your relationship perfectly. (PS. I promise I did not prompt her to give me a shout out. Ha!)

WHAT IS A DETAIL YOU ARE MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR YOUR UPCOMING WEDDING DAY?
I am so excited to marry the man of my dreams and my best friend – everything else is just icing on the cake!
