Brooke + Chad got engaged in the snow in Colorado and took engagement pictures in what feels like summer in Texas! : ) And soon they’ll be married in January!
We were finally able to get together for our shoot last Friday since our original April date had to be postponed but good things come to those who wait right?! We did have to move up the time of our shoot due to some serious rain coming in and it was a good thing we did! As soon as we were wrapping up, we could see the dark clouds starting to move in! Then it rained for a FULL 24 hours! Crazy!
Philip and I enjoyed getting to know these two and just how cute they are together. Hugs and stolen kisses are some of the best things to photograph! Love how a simple “Happy New Year” message could turn into a life filled with love together! Read more of their story below!
THE PROPOSAL
For months, we had been planning a ski trip to Colorado with a group of our friends. I (Chad) decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to propose, and have a celebration after with all of our friends. She would not get suspicious either, because she is the one that planned the trip! Her best friend and I went ring shopping to get ideas in August/September, and then I ended up buying the ring from a custom jewelry store in Houston. Flash forward to New Year’s Eve, and we were out in the middle of a frozen lake taking pictures as a group. All of a sudden, the group broke up to start taking pictures in smaller groups. After Brooke and I were done with pictures (or so she thought) she turned around to find me on one knee holding up a ring and asking her to be my wife.
HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We met through Chad’s sister. They always posted cute family pictures on holidays and I mentioned that I thought he was cute. She told him about “a friend that she went to A&M with” and a few months later he messaged me on Instagram just to say “Happy New Year!” About a month later, I decided to take a HUGE leap of faith and drive down to Corpus Christi to meet him. (I was very good friends with his sister so I knew it was safe LOL). It took me hours to work up the courage to start the road trip, but as soon as I got there I knew it was right. We have been dating ever since!
PERFECT DATE NIGHT
Well, it would start with the two of us going to the store to decide what we were going to cook for date night. We would grab a bottle of wine, as well. Then we go home, crack open the bottle of wine and get to cooking. After dinner, we hop in the car and drive down the street to our favorite local brewery, Odd Muse. We sit, drink, play games, and laugh (A LOT). After leaving the brewery, we pick up some frozen yogurt on the way home to watch a new movie.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR THE WEDDING DAY?
BEING MARRIED, DUH! Other than that, having all of our friends and family in the same place is going to be a blast.
SOMETHING UNIQUE ABOUT EACH OTHER
“Chad can do magic with cards.” – Brooke
“Brooke has a lip tattoo, but you’d never know.” – Chad
ANY ADVICE FOR OTHERS GETTING PHOTOS TAKEN?
The goofier, the better. Laugh with noises! In all seriousness, just have fun and enjoy it. Do what is comfortable.
