SHELBY + KYLE | Turtle Creek Park Engagement

I think one of the best responses that I can receive from a bride, I got from Shelby! In a nutshell, she talked about how PUMPED they were for their engagement session! That will have me on a high for sure! I was just as excited! : ) Engagement session are so much fun because we get to hang out, chat, learn so much about one another, and create an engagement story that is all about them! L.O.V.E. Love!

Shelby + Kyle are good friends with our good friends the “Byrds” and it is no wonder why we got along so well! Is saying birds of a feather too much… haha! Just so glad that we get to be a part of their wedding day journey!

Ok so what a little gem Turtle Creek Park is! I am just loving Dallas more and more! It was the perfect spot for their engagement session and would you like to know why?! Keep reading their responses!

Besides being a little humid (ok a lot humid) it was a perfect day! And I know that Shelby + Kyle agree! And we ended the day at a place where they got to reminisce. You have to see!

HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
“Last July we went on a blind date that was set up by two of our mutual friends, and by the end of the night Kyle asked me to go on another date with him later that week!”

WHAT IS A UNIQUE THING ABOUT EACH OTHER?
Every time Kyle sings it makes my heart melt and I get the biggest smile on my face.” -Shelby
Shelby’s favorite meal to eat is dinosaur chicken nuggets and Mac’n’cheese elegantly paired with a 19 Crimes Red Blend.” -Kyle

THE PERFECT DATE NIGHT
We love going out to a romantic French or Italian restaurant and then finding a unique bar or speakeasy.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR THE WEDDING DAY?
“To marry the love of my life in the most incredible dress I’ll ever own in front of all of our loved ones!” – Shelby
“To celebrate the beginning of an incredible stage of life with all my friends and family!” -Kyle

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
“My original plan was to take Shelby on a date to the Dallas Farmer’s Market and have her pick out food for a picnic. Then we would go to White Rock Lake and have the picnic, which is where I had planned on asking her to marry me. Both of our families and some of her closest friends would be there to celebrate with us afterwards! HOWEVER!! Coronavirus ruined those plans. Instead, I talked with Shelby’s parents about proposing earlier and then celebrating with them at a later date. So on the day I proposed, we went for a walk on Katy Trail (our favorite trail) and after about a mile we veered off on another path. The path led to Turtle Creek Park, which is a lush green oasis in the middle of Dallas. As we walked up to the scenic pavilion, I started recalling the most memorable moments and milestones of our relationship up until this point. We then stopped in front of the pavilion and I got down on one knee, per her father’s instruction, I asked Shelby to marry me before I showed her the ring. But she was crying so much that when I did show her the ring, she couldn’t even see it! We called all of our family and friends as we walked back to my apartment, and my immediate family was setting up a surprise engagement party for us! While it wasn’t what I had originally had in mind for this moment, it was still just as special because I got one step closer to having Shelby as my wife!!”

ANY ADVICE TO GIVE FOR OTHER COUPLES HAVING ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS TAKEN?
“Trust your photographer!! We thought we looked so awkward and silly but the photos turned out MAGICAL! Bring somethings that are unique to you as a couple. For example, we brought Prosecco to pop, and in memory of COVID-19 we took pictures with masks, gloves, and Corona beers. Also, I plan on doing my own hair and makeup for the wedding day so I basically did a trial run for makeup during this shoot! Finally, just have fun! Laughing and smiling really hard show how much you love each other in the photos!”
