CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

If you have children, you know how quickly they grow.  Nine months of anticipation seems like a long time then all of a sudden this little baby is looking up at you ready to be loved.  Years pass and they start school, they think the world of you.  At my daughters First Grade graduation, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, said she wanted to be just like her mom…  You know I cried.  🙂  They get older and start becoming independent and want to do things their way.   I have to admit, I was very headstrong when I was younger…. ok…ok… I never grew out of that.  Ha!  Children get older and parents stay the same age, right?!  Butt heads a little and compromise… and the teenage years.  They go to high school, graduate and start figuring out the rest of their lives.  I can’t believe it went by as fast as it did.  Just amazing.

This beautiful child of God has come so far.  I wish I could list out all of the struggles and wins we have had in the last 21 years but instead, I’ll tell you that we have been blessed with the opportunity to have a great mother/daughter relationship.  I will not take this for granted.  She is growing up to be such a kind and caring person.  Finishing up her year at Navarro Cosmetology school in just a few short weeks, she will be able to start her career with a clean slate and a good head on her shoulders.  I am BEYOND proud and I can’t wait to see what the next year will bring.

Give your kiddos a hug, tell them you love them, and take pictures.  You’ll blink and they will be graduating high school, headed to college, getting married, and/or starting their own journey.  I am thankful for the chaotic & the good that shaped the person that she is.  I love my girl.
